Sometimes You Just Need Somewhere to Say It Out Loud

Imagine being married, settled into your life, and carrying around thoughts and feelings you haven’t really told anyone about.

Maybe you’re questioning your relationship. Maybe there’s something about yourself you’re trying to understand. Maybe you’re not even sure there’s a “problem” to solve. You just know it keeps coming back into your mind.

That’s the kind of situation someone might bring to me.

In a coaching conversation, my first job isn’t to tell them what they should do. It’s to give them a place where they can finally say what they’re thinking without worrying about being judged.

From there, we start sorting through it.

What are you actually feeling?

What do you wish were different?

What are you afraid to admit, even to yourself?

What do you want your relationship and your life to look like from here?

Sometimes we discover that the thing someone originally wanted to talk about isn’t actually the biggest issue at all. There may be loneliness underneath it. A relationship that has lost its connection. A need to feel wanted again. A major life transition. Or simply questions they’ve never allowed themselves to explore.

The goal isn’t for me to hand someone an answer.

It’s to help them understand themselves well enough to find their own.

By the end of a session, we may have identified one thing they want to change, one conversation they need to have, or simply a much clearer understanding of what they’ve been feeling.

And sometimes that clarity begins with something surprisingly simple:

Finally saying it out loud.
