About
My path to coaching has never followed a single discipline. For more than 15 years, my professional life has crossed massage and bodywork, yoga, meditation, complementary and alternative medicine, behavioral health, and clinical social work. Along the way, I became increasingly interested in what helps people understand themselves, navigate change, reconnect with what matters, and build lives that feel more intentional and authentic.
Today, I bring those perspectives together through Therapy with Z. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider, Certified Massage Therapist, 1,000-hour Certified Yoga Teacher, and Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher. My education and experience have given me opportunities to work with people across the lifespan and to explore well-being through psychological, behavioral, relational, and mind-body perspectives.
Coaching gives us room to focus on where you are now and where you want to go. You may be reconsidering priorities, navigating a transition, feeling disconnected from yourself, trying to make a change, or simply wondering what comes next. You do not need to arrive with a perfectly defined goal. Curiosity is often enough to begin.
I believe meaningful change is more sustainable when it grows from understanding rather than judgment. I bring warmth, humor, curiosity, practical tools, and respect for your autonomy into our work. I will not tell you who you should become or hand you a formula for living. Instead, we explore what matters to you, what may be getting in the way, what is already working, and what small or significant changes could move your life in a direction that feels more like your own.

What sets me apart
Why Choose Z. Hamilton
My background spans clinical social work, behavioral health, yoga, meditation, massage therapy, and complementary and alternative medicine. I bring these perspectives together to offer coaching that considers the whole person while remaining practical, collaborative, and grounded in each client's own values and goals.
Methodology
My Coaching Approach
My coaching approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and whole-person oriented. I draw from principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, mindfulness, self-compassion, solution-focused approaches, behavior change, and mind-body practices while keeping coaching distinct from psychotherapy.
A typical session begins with what feels most relevant to you that day. We might clarify a goal, explore competing priorities, identify patterns, examine what your values are asking of you, work through ambivalence, or turn a larger intention into realistic next steps. At other times, slowing down and understanding what is happening may be more useful than immediately trying to solve it.
Depending on your goals, our work may include values clarification, mindfulness, self-compassion, reflection, goal setting, strengths exploration, practical skills, experiential exercises, movement or breath practices, and between-session activities. I adapt the process rather than expecting everyone to respond to the same strategies.
I see coaching as a place for both acceptance and action. We can acknowledge reality as it is while also asking what choices remain available to you. The goal is not constant productivity or self-improvement. It is greater awareness, flexibility, agency, and movement toward a life that reflects what matters to you.
Best Fit
Who I Help
I work best with people who are curious about themselves and open to exploring change without expecting a rigid formula. You might be navigating a transition, reconsidering what you want from life, struggling to turn intentions into action, feeling disconnected from your values, or wanting greater balance between your emotional, physical, relational, and professional well-being.
You do not need to be highly motivated, perfectly organized, or certain about your goals. Ambivalence, uncertainty, and feeling stuck can all be useful places to begin. I especially enjoy working with people who appreciate thoughtful conversation alongside practical strategies and are willing to experiment with new ways of approaching familiar patterns.
My coaching is affirming of LGBTQIA+ people, neurodivergent people, people with disabilities or chronic health experiences, and people whose lives or identities do not fit neatly into conventional expectations. I welcome clients who value autonomy, curiosity, compassion, authenticity, and a whole-person approach to growth.
Coaching is most appropriate when you are seeking support with personal development, values, goals, habits, transitions, well-being, or meaningful change rather than diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition. When psychotherapy or another level of care would better fit your needs, I believe in being transparent about that distinction.

Questions
Frequently Asked
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other and explore what brings you to coaching. We may discuss what is happening in your life, what matters to you, areas where you feel stuck, and what you hope might change. You do not need to arrive with clearly defined goals. We can develop them together.
Coaching focuses on personal growth, values, goals, life transitions, habits, well-being, and meaningful change. Psychotherapy involves the assessment and treatment of mental health concerns and is provided under my clinical license. Although my background as a therapist informs how I understand people, coaching and psychotherapy are separate services.
Sessions are collaborative and shaped by what is most useful to you. We might explore a challenge, clarify values, identify patterns, work through ambivalence, develop practical strategies, practice mindfulness or self-compassion, or identify a realistic next step. I adapt the process to the person rather than following the same formula with everyone.
No special preparation is required. You may find it helpful to think about what has been on your mind, what you would like to understand or change, or what would make the session feel worthwhile. It is also completely fine to arrive unsure of where to begin.
Individual coaching is $75 for a 30-minute session. Coaching is a private-pay service and is not billed to health insurance.
Yes. Coaching is available online, allowing us to work together from a private and comfortable location that works for you. Because coaching is distinct from psychotherapy, we will also clarify the nature and scope of the service before beginning.
