This is for you if

  • ✓You know something needs to change, but you’re not sure where to begin.
  • ✓You feel stuck and can’t quite understand what is keeping you there.
  • ✓You overthink decisions until you struggle to move forward.
  • ✓You’re questioning who you are, what you want, or where your life is going.
  • ✓You’re trying to discover or reconnect with your purpose.

Probably not for you if

  • –You’re looking for someone to make your decisions for you or tell you exactly how to live your life.
  • –You want a quick fix without being willing to look honestly at what may be keeping you stuck.
  • –You want change, but you’re not willing to take action between conversations.
  • –You’re looking only for encouragement or validation and don’t want to be challenged when something may be getting in your way.
  • –You want a rigid, one-size-fits-all program that gives everyone the same steps regardless of their circumstances.

What clients typically get

  • →Clarity about what’s actually keeping them stuck — moving beyond the presenting problem to recognize underlying patterns, beliefs, fears, or obstacles.
  • →Greater confidence in their decisions and direction — spending less time trapped in overthinking and becoming better able to move forward intentionally.
  • →A clearer understanding of who they are and what matters to them — especially when identity, purpose, or life direction has become unclear.
  • →Practical tools for breaking unhelpful patterns — learning how to recognize and respond differently to patterns that have repeatedly kept them from moving forward.
  • →Clear, actionable next steps — turning insight into something they can actually begin applying in everyday life rather than leaving coaching with information alone.
  • →A personalized pathway toward meaningful change — understanding what their next season requires instead of trying to follow a generic formula designed for everyone else.

Background

About

My journey into coaching didn't begin because I had everything figured out. It grew out of years of navigating change, rebuilding, asking difficult questions, and learning what it means to keep moving forward when life doesn't look anything like you expected it to. Along the way, I became deeply interested in why people become stuck—not simply what they are struggling with on the surface, but the beliefs, fears, experiences, patterns, and assumptions underneath that can quietly shape the way we see ourselves and the decisions we make.

In 2020, I became a Certified Master Life Coach through Transformation Academy, and I later founded Align & Shine Coaching. Today, I help people who feel stuck, overwhelmed by overthinking, uncertain about their identity or direction, afraid to make a change, or frustrated because they know something needs to be different but aren't sure how to get from where they are to where they want to be. I don't believe two people who arrive with the same struggle necessarily arrived there the same way, which is why I don't believe in forcing every client through the same predetermined program. Personal coaching should actually be personal.

My coaching style is conversational, reflective, practical, and action-oriented. I listen carefully, ask questions that help us look beneath the presenting problem, and help you identify patterns and connections you may not have recognized before. From there, we work toward clarity about what needs to change and practical steps that help you begin moving forward. I believe insight matters, but insight without action rarely produces transformation. My goal isn't for you to leave a session simply feeling inspired; I want you to leave with a clearer understanding of yourself and something meaningful you can actually do with what you've discovered.

Faith is foundational to who I am and the work I do. For clients who desire it, I incorporate Scripture and biblical principles throughout our work together, with an emphasis on becoming doers of the Word rather than hearers only. At the same time, you do not have to share my beliefs to work with me. I welcome people from different backgrounds and believe every person I work with deserves to be heard, respected, and treated as an individual rather than as a problem to be fixed.

What drives me most is seeing people begin to recognize that where they are today does not automatically determine where they have to remain. Sometimes moving forward begins with finally understanding what has been keeping you where you are. From there, we can begin building a pathway forward that actually fits you—because your pathway doesn't exist yet. I haven't met YOU yet.

What sets me apart

Why Choose Joyce

Personal coaching should actually be personal. I don’t use a one-size-fits-all program; we look beneath the presenting problem to understand what is actually keeping you stuck and build your pathway around what we discover. My approach moves beyond insight into practical action, helping you not only understand what needs to change, but begin living it out.

Methodology

My Coaching Approach

My coaching approach is built around a simple belief: personal coaching should actually be personal. I don't begin with a predetermined solution and try to fit you into it. We begin with what is happening in your life, what you want to change, and what may be standing between where you are and where you want to go. From there, the coaching process is shaped around what we discover together.

My methodology generally moves through six interconnected stages: Understand, Investigate, Discern, Dismantle, Rebuild, and Live It Out. We first work to understand what you are experiencing and clarify the outcome you actually want. Then we investigate beneath the presenting problem, looking at the beliefs, thought patterns, fears, habits, experiences, assumptions, or circumstances that may be contributing to it. From there, we discern what is true, what is useful, what may be keeping you stuck, and what needs to change. Once we can see that more clearly, we can begin dismantling unhelpful patterns, rebuilding healthier ones, and—most importantly—putting what you are learning into practice in your everyday life.

A typical session is conversational and collaborative rather than scripted. I'll listen carefully, ask questions, reflect back patterns or connections I notice, and sometimes challenge you to look at something from an angle you may not have considered. Depending on what we're working through, I may also use guided exercises, reflection questions, practical assignments, goal setting, or accountability between sessions. You won't spend an hour simply talking about the problem and then leave wondering what to do next. Whenever possible, we end with a clear next step you can begin applying outside the coaching session.

For clients who want faith-based coaching, Scripture and biblical principles can be integrated naturally throughout this process. My emphasis is not simply on gaining more information, but on becoming a doer rather than a hearer only—taking what you recognize during coaching and actually living it out. Whether our work centers on identity, purpose, fear, overthinking, direction, change, or another area where you feel stuck, the goal is the same: greater understanding, meaningful action, and movement toward lasting change.

Your pathway isn't created before you arrive. We build it around what you actually need.

Best Fit

Who I Help

I work best with people who know something in their life needs to change, even if they can't yet clearly identify what that change should look like or why they have been struggling to make it happen. You may feel stuck, uncertain about your direction, disconnected from who you are, caught in overthinking, afraid of making the wrong decision, or frustrated because you keep recognizing the same patterns without knowing how to break them.

Many of the people I am best equipped to help are thoughtful and self-aware. You've probably already spent time thinking about your situation, trying to understand yourself, praying about it, reading, listening to advice, or attempting to make changes on your own. The problem isn't necessarily that you don't care or haven't tried. Sometimes you have accumulated plenty of insight but still can't figure out why you aren't moving forward. Other times, you know where you want to go but fear, self-doubt, old beliefs, competing priorities, or patterns you haven't fully recognized keep pulling you back.

I also work well with people navigating seasons of transition or rebuilding—when an old version of life no longer fits but the next one isn't clear yet. That might involve questions about identity, purpose, relationships, career or life direction, personal growth, boundaries, confidence, or simply figuring out what comes next. You don't need to arrive with the perfect goal or even the perfect words for what is wrong. Figuring out what is really happening can be part of the work we do together.

For clients who want their faith to be part of the process, I especially enjoy working with people who want to move beyond simply knowing biblical truth and begin applying it to the way they think, choose, respond, and live. However, you do not have to share my faith to work with me. What matters most is that you are willing to be honest with yourself, open to looking beneath the surface, and willing to take action on what you discover.

If you're looking for someone to simply tell you what to do, I may not be the right coach for you. But if you're ready to ask deeper questions, understand what's actually keeping you stuck, and take meaningful steps toward change, we may work very well together.
