San Salvador remains El Salvador's capital and a current district, but the municipal boundary changed. Legislative Decree 762 and its 2024 amendment place the District of San Salvador, identified as the capital, inside the Municipality of San Salvador Centro with Ayutuxtepeque, Mejicanos, Cuscatancingo, and Ciudad Delgado. That distinction matters: a city or district fact must not be confused with the wider municipality, department, metropolitan area, or country. A coach should ask which home, workplace, commute, institution, and administrative boundary actually governs the decision rather than treating every 'San Salvador' statistic as interchangeable.
