Paris is both a commune and a department, divided into 20 municipal arrondissements. It is not interchangeable with the Métropole du Grand Paris or the Île-de-France region. INSEE reports 2,103,778 residents for the Commune de Paris in 2023 and identifies code 75056; its published density and household figures use that exact boundary. Someone comparing work, study, commuting, housing, or a business should label the geographic unit behind every number rather than treating a regional statistic as a city fact.
The City of Paris publishes Points Paris Emploi and other employment-support pathways for job search, retraining, and orientation across named arrondissements. It also maintains information for entrepreneurs on premises, procurement, financing pathways, and business support. These resources make career change, skills planning, leadership, and small-enterprise testing reasonable subjects to investigate.
