Local context
Conakry is Guinea's capital and a special administrative region. Guinea's National Statistics Institute reported 1,675,069 people for the Conakry region in the 2014 census and a projected 2,095,705 for July 2022. Those are region-level figures from different statistical exercises, not interchangeable current city counts. Older INS material describes five communes, while more recent government action has changed local administrative arrangements. A responsible page must therefore date every commune statement and avoid assigning an old population to a new boundary or to one household, neighborhood, or current service area.
Government policy material has discussed continuing education, technical schools, public administration, infrastructure, employment initiatives, and institutions in Conakry.
