Genève—Geneva in English—is a current city and the central commune of the Republic and Canton of Geneva. The canton has 45 communes, while the City of Genève has its own municipal government and statistical sectors. Grand Genève is broader again: its official cross-border structure includes the canton, the Nyon district, and the French Genevois metropolitan grouping. This route is anchored to the City of Genève. Canton-wide employment figures, another commune, an airport-area employer, or a French cross-border commute cannot prove an exact-city coach, workplace, service, eligibility rule, or travel pattern.
The cantonal employment office supports registered job seekers and employers, while the labor inspectorate regulates working conditions, recruitment services, certain commercial activities, and foreign labor at canton level. The city has separate municipal responsibilities, and Grand Genève publishes regional planning and mobility context.
