This guide concerns Haiphong, Vietnam, and uses the administrative boundary in force on August 27, 2026. Haiphong's municipal government says that on July 1, 2025, the former Haiphong municipality and the entire former Hai Duong Province merged into a new centrally governed city named Haiphong. The resulting jurisdiction covers nearly 3,200 square kilometers, more than 4.6 million people, and 114 commune-level units. A 2026 municipal classification separately identifies the central Haiphong urban area, former Hai Duong urban area, former Thuy Nguyen city, and other urban groupings inside that expanded jurisdiction. Those facts are essential to avoid presenting a municipality-wide statistic as evidence about central port districts, a specific ward, a commute, or an employer. They establish geography, not coaching demand, a vacancy, salary, customer, permit, or outcome.
Official 2026 planning describes Haiphong as pursuing industrial, seaport, logistics, trade, technology, tourism, and green-development roles across its enlarged territory. A resident may be comparing work near the port, a manufacturing or services role, leadership in a distributed team, a move between the former Haiphong and Hai Duong areas, or a small independent-work test. Coaching can help define criteria, prepare questions, sequence conversations, and review a bounded experiment. Employers, municipal authorities, licensing bodies, immigration professionals, lawyers, accountants, banks, and customers must verify contracts, qualifications, travel time, tax, registration, payment, and lawful work.
