Lusaka is Zambia's national capital, a city within Lusaka District, and the provincial headquarters; Lusaka Province is a much larger denominator. Lusaka City Council identifies itself as the administrative authority for Lusaka District and distinguishes the district from neighboring districts and the province. Its current city material cites the 2022 census for a district population, while some older council pages still display 2010 figures. This guide therefore avoids mixing reference years.
