This route refers to the municipality of Basel. Basel-Stadt is a canton that also contains Riehen and Bettingen, while the Basel economic region extends into Basel-Landschaft, France, and Germany. The canton's official facts page distinguishes 183,564 residents in Basel city from 207,515 across Basel-Stadt in its 2024 figures.
